What's the real meaning behind the song? Is he talking about Diana Ross or Princess Diana, or just some other person that he uses the name Diana for?

Yeah, I'm not completely sure either, but it definately isn't about Princess Diana. There was a story that Mike told several times in interviews, that during one of his tours, Princess Diana was going to attend, and he was going to cancel doing Dirty Diana in honor of her, but she took him aside and told him not to, but to do it because it was one of her favorites!

Yep, she attended his Bad World Tour, and Michael thought it was disrespectful so he took it out the show, and Diana didn't want that cause she loved the song, but it was already too late cause they had already altered the show without DD.

 

I don't think there is any "hidden message" within Dirty Diana, besides it talking about Groupies...

I remember in the 20/20 interview in 1997 that Dirty Diana is a song about Diana who goes to night clubs or Rock n' Roll bands concerts. I think that's what the song is about. I'm trying to remember. By the way, the song is NOT about Princess Diana or Diana Ross.
