i know of three

1) the Basic backwards moonwalk

2) the one where he spins in a circle kinda

3) the side ways glide one

No. 2 is awesome the way he does it. He did it during Stranger In Moscow on the HIStory tour.. Also does it at the end of Billie Jean.

In Sydney on the history tour he did the backwards moonwalk and then did the sideways one flawlessly and that was so amazing. I always have to rewind that part.

No, No, No! There are no other types of Moonwalks. They are all different moves with different names.

The move that Michael Jackson made famous is called the "backslide" - It involves putting weight on the toes of one foot and sliding the other back, then switching feet and doing so again. It gives the appearance that the dancer is floating backwards, though they should be walking forward. It's actually not the Moonwalk, that's another kind of move, but it's commonly known as the moonwalk now.

The move that Michael Jackson does where he slides around or to the side is known as The Glide, or just Gliding. It putting weight on one toe and the other heel, then lowering the raised foot as if you are going to step on the other foot. Then slide the other foot on it's heel in another direction, switch that foot to it's toes, your other foot to it's heel, and slide the other foot to the place where you placed your first foots, while sliding it you must switch back to the starting position.

The Moonwalk in a Sqaure is called the Cobra, and it is actually simply rotating around on your heels while moving your upper arm/chest muscles to the beat. The part that people often call the moonwalk is simply sliding your foot back so that you can continue rotating on your heels.

I can do all MJ's glides, sidewalk and ect.....Ive been learning for five years.Im accctuly a good impersonator

Ya i agree with you....Especial when you see the looks on peoples faces after you've danced...PRICELESS

I didn't even know there were different types, i thought it was just the standard type!! LOL

Yeah, they all involve the same principal that makes the moonwalker work, but call them whatever you want :)

Thanks a lot! My favorite is a Cobra, I never actually thought it was that name! I knew the normal moonwalk was really called a backslide though. Then, what is a REAL moonwalk?

The true moonwalk is a circle glide that travels in a very linear path. It's the move that Michael Jackson used to do when he finished Billie Jean back in the Victory/Bad Tours.

I'd also like to rebut the notion that MJ like changed the moves... cause I hear that a lot. The reason they look so good when he does them is because he is doing them the correct way. where as a lot of bboys change the moves, don't keep their feet on the ground during slides, ect.

MJ's execution of the glides are the most by the book I've seen.

Where did you find all this stuff out. Can you give me the website that you found it out? Because I would like to read all this stuff too. :p Thanks

Well I didn't like read a reference page. I learned by hanging out on bboy.org's various (Mainly Pop/Lock) Forum.

There are some boys there with mad skills...

I like the sideways one the most. It looks the best. The moonwalk isn't even as good of an illusion in my opinion.

El side walk es lo mejor, a mi entender bastante mejor que el moonwalk tradicional
