Ann Curry 'feels vindicated' by 'Today' show's troubled Olympics ratings: report

Featured Replies

Ann Curry's smile may be looking a little smugger these days.

The ousted "Today" show host is reportedly feeling "vindicated" after news that her former morning talk show is still tanking in the ratings department.

A source tells RadarOnline.com that Curry, who was widely seen as a scapegoat who took the fall for the network's ratings tumble, is now feeling a rousing bout of "I told you so."

"Ann feels completely vindicated by the 'Today' show's poor ratings since she left," the source said. "She feels she was fired completely unfairly and wasn't given a fair shot at the gig."

The fact that Curry, 55, is feeling a weight lifted off her shoulders comes directly in the wake of a Daily News reportthat Hoda Kotb was flown out to London specifically to aid in the "Today" show's Olympics coverage.

Savannah Guthrie, Curry's replacement, isn't doing much to aid the show's ratings, and an insider tells the Daily News that NBC executives hope that sending sunny Kotb will turn the ratings around.

"They called Hoda on Thusday begging her to go to London because they said it wasn't working like they thought," the source tells the Daily News.

Kotb initially had a two-week hiatus from the show lined up for vacation.

Instances like this make Curry further feel that her oust was unwarranted, RadarOnline.com reports.

"Ann feels she was made a scapegoat by the network and that it's the whole show that needed an overhaul, not her replacing," the source told the site. "She feels they should have booked better guests and had a more exciting line-up and better stories to cover and better writing.

"Ann believes that point has been proved by the show's ratings declining even further since she left."

Since Guthrie stepped into Curry's role back on July 9, the "Today" show hasn't beaten rival "Good Morning America" in the ratings even once.

Curry was booted from the show at the end of June in what turned out to be a messy split.

"We gave her a year to prove herself, and ultimately we came to the conclusion that she had played at the highest level she could," President of NBC Steve Capus told the Hollywood Reporter at the time.

"When you're in the major leagues of our profession, you've got to continue to be at peak performance in order to stay there."

The veteran newswoman, for her part, managed to keep things professional on-air, though she made it clear that the decision to leave was not entirely mutual.

"I have called the co-host job at the 'Today' show my dream job, and I would be lying if I said it was easy to leave that job," she said on the show, addressing the viewers.

"I have loved you and I have always wanted to give you the world. And I still do."

The today show is losing viewers because its becoming dumber and dumber to watch. I used to love the show, but its mostly about Celeb BS now and dumb stories. And they have this Segment called "The professionals" where 3 douche fucks give us their opinion, and that segment alone makes me not want to watch the show.

What they did to Ann made me want to watch it even less. She's been on that show all these years and they treat her like that? and replace her with Savannah? WTF? LOL

If anyone should've gotten the job its Natalie. She's so damn beautiful :D hopefully Natalie will leave NBC for a different network like the others have been doing.

But to be honest, i don't want any morning shows anymore. No tv :D
