Old inactive members, want your account removed?

Featured Replies

Today i have set up the system that contacts people with old inactive accounts, and soon these accounts will be placed in the "inactive" group, and eventually deleted if the members dont sign in. All posts that the members made will still be here, but the accounts will be gone, and no long accessible.

I understand that some old members signed up on the site back when it was a Michael Jackson fan forum only, and no longer wish to be a member of the forum. i am now allowing this accounts to be deleted. Your content will stay, but as with the inactive accounts, your account will no longer exist, and you'll no longer get an email or anything from the forum ever again. To do this, please contact me via PM here, or [email protected].

But i hope everyone considers staying, and making this into an awesome community once again, and even help build a nice MJ fan section.

wow only like 10 members from the entire 3k+ came after that email, and only one of them posted ha.

The good thing about removing inactive accounts is freeing up usernames, but i think maybe we'll leave the accounts, but place them in the inactive group, and if anyone wants the username we can give it to them. i dunno

i wonder if there is a way to make all the inactive accounts have like a random number at the beginning of the name or something that'll free up the name, i dunno.

Got over 1k emails returned due to inboxes no longer existing. :| So those accounts are pretty much useless.

you could put something like inac in the name so you know the account is inactive

See under your name next to your post? It'll say inactive there, so thats how we'll know.

the problem is clearing up the common usernames so active members can use them, for example, 7 years ago someone might have signed up with the name Bob, and never posted, and hasnt been back since. Now no one can sign up with that name, so maybe an active member has to use the name BobLikesLettuce since just Bob is taken. So it'd be nice to let that member use Bob if he wanted to.

Personally i hate using Joshlikeslettuce on other forums.
