MJJ song you didn't like at first but now do?
I'll go out on a limb and say I never liked the song or video for You Are Not Alone. I thought both were silly. I realize I'm in the minority but that's what I think. I also have to admit I'm not an R. Kelly songwriting fan.

MJJ song you didn't like at first but now do?
I'm curious if anyone else has not liked a Michael song at first and grew to like it? For me, I never liked Rock with you. I was not into disco, and I didn't like the video (sorry -- just being honest). I watched the video recently (long story) and I realized the song is actually a lot better than I realized. It keeps going through my head. Anyone else had an experience like this??

Tatum O'Neil on her life, press, and Britney
From the New York Post 'GOSSIP IS so hard-wired into hu mans that someday scientists may isolate the gene." That's Anna Quindlen in Newsweek, writing on the current glut of celebrity babble, epitomized by Anna Nicole Smith and Britney Spears. Funny, as elements of the entertainment culture sink to new lows, the more impressive the serious analysis is. Britney's head-shaving meltdown was deconstructed interestingly by Mark Stevens in New York magazine: "She seemed to be trying, with befuddled brilliance, to tell the truth. She recoiled from celebrity culture by mortifying her own flesh." 'I ALWAYS wore underwear, no matter what!" the Oscar win ner Tatum O'Neal tells this column in commenting on the legendary adventures of Britney Spears. O'Neal also says we've become like England's Fleet Street in tormenting celebrities via paparazzi "following people to their death! . . . We cannot have people in our bushes all the time. I think it's going to get to a point where we'll have restraining laws to protect actors. We can't all move to London or hide out in Seattle. We have to be able to live in the city we work, and be able to raise our children. As for Britney, I don't think they want anything good out of her. They don't want her to get any better. They got the picture they wanted - they got her going crazy. "She's at fault, too. She's not responsible herself in that she lives in Los Angeles, goes to clubs, drinks too much. But Britney is a girl, not much older than my son. She's a kid. She didn't go to college. Give her a break. It's not OK for helicopters to fly over her rehab. I hope she gets better, finds herself. For me, it was good that I left L.A. I was thrust out there as a little kid. It was hard to cope. [Tatum won the Oscar at age 10 for "Paper Moon."] I used to walk with my head down. I was involved with drugs and alcohol. I had a lot of shame and self-hatred." Speaking directly about the Anna Nicole horror show, Tatum says, "I admit it, I am a pop-culture addict. I'm right there watching it. I can't believe the judge, I can't believe the circus . . . her life became unmanageable, and now, in death, she's left the ultimate unmanageable situation! God hopes somebody comes in and helps that little girl of hers." OF HER dad, Ryan O' Neal, from whom she has been long estranged, Tatum is surprisingly supportive: "I do have a lot of love for him. I wish him the best. I think he needs anger management. Listen, sometimes he can be very charming. He is seductive, hilarious and a great actor. I'm happy he's healthy now and working. All I want is to be respected and treated with respect and love." Of the recent incident involving her brothers Griffin and Redmond, with Ryan shooting off a gun and charges flying back and forth, Tatum says, "I wasn't there, and I don't know exactly what happened. I just want my brothers to feel like they're worth something." (Speaking of her mother, the late actress Joanna Moore, Tatum admits, "She was a great mother, but she was on drugs and alcohol . . ." Tatum lets the memory drift off, sadly.) And what of Farrah Fawcett, the glorious blond TV icon who shared so much of Ryan O'Neal's life, and whose omni-presence was not always appreciated by his daughter? In the wake of Fawcett's cancer recuperation, Tatum visited her. "She's doing good. She looked great and was funny. I have a lot of respect and love for her." It has long been a theory that in marrying the arrogant tennis ace John McEnroe, Tatum was continuing her fraught relationship with her father, but the actress doesn't see it that way: "Oh, no. John helped me get out of Los Angeles, where I was caught in the rut of the growing-up-child-star syndrome. He helped me move on and gave my life some purpose with our kids and all. We had time for a good relationship. And, John has a wonderful relationship with his kids. That is not my dad." Tatum smiled and then added, "OK. There's a temper there I might be attracted to!" Tatum O'Neal can be seen in Denis Leary's FX series "Rescue Me." She calls the actor a genius. But like all actors, she always thinks she'll never work again. She's contemplated a real estate career and writing, but in the end, "I love acting. It's great for me because I have a big mouth!"

How and Why you became a MJ fan?
My story started LONG ago when the J-5 were still together. I was at my friend Diane's house and we were watching TV on a Saturday. It was American Bandstand with Dick Clark. I'll never forget watching Michael sing and dance. I was just undone by how talented he was. That is the beginning of the VERY long involved (probably boring to you guys!) story of how I became a Michael Jackson fan. Why have I remained a fan all of these years? Well, obviously, I love his music. But I also think that Michael is genuinely a true, kind giving person and I greatly admire that in him. Ann -- I also promised to always love him -- a LONG time ago -- cool we both did that
