Lost Memories

Featured Replies

Don't you love to find

All those lost memories?

They come out to play

When your heart sings

When your love shows each day

Don't you remember?

Fraggle Rock and Sesame Street?

The Puzzle Place and My Little Ponies

And all my favorite things

Reading Rainbow

And most of all Barney the Purple Dinosaur

Who taught us how to love and share

To read and write and play

That's right you remember now

When Jelly Shoes were so cool

When baggy tie-dye shirts were so in

When you hair could just be messy

When Big Bird was your best friend

And Barbie was really pretty

When going outside was a adventure

And drinking Kool Aid was like being in heaven

When you would become best friends

With someone you never had meet before

But you had in your imagination

And you see them and you both say "I have been looking for you!"

When bad words were simply

"Shut up" and "Stupid"

And when magic and fairies

Would whisper to you in the middle of the night

The latest you ever stayed up was 9:00

And your sister was gonna "tell"

When you ate all her candy that one time

And when the boys were yucky

And you would chase each other around

Laughing and playing

When tying your shoes was a big deal

And walking across the street without holding a hand

Was freedom to the extreme, imagine the joy!

Remember when you wanted to be a "big boy" or a "big girl"

Because people two years older than you

Were obviously much more mature

Do you remember the ice cream man?

You never had enough money for it though

So you would ask "pretty please"

And the nice man would oblige happily

You remember School House Rock?

"Because Knowledge is Power!"

You remember Sesame Street?

".....brought to you today by the letter 4!"

Remember Puffy?

You're favorite stuffed animal?

And all your cats were named Fluffy

And all you dogs, Puppy, naturally

Whenever Daddy or Mommy came home

It was beautiful

"Mom! You're home! I thought I would never see you again!"

Your mother just smiles and pats you on the back

She knows you have waited all day for her loving care

When cooties were real

And when you gave your teacher a hug every day

And especially when she read "The Lady Bug" book

At school

When your pray was simple

"God is good, God is great, let us thank him for this day, Amen!"

All those precious days in the month of May

Mimi and Papa

Were the best

Because they had chocolate ice cream

And loved you so much

To the very end of everything

When "strangers" were the worst thing to fear

And monster in the closet

Remember to check before bed!

Things were so different

Reading books with Grandma was fun

And playing Tea Party all the time

You loved unconditionally

I still do

Why don't you?

I guess I spend to much finding my lost memories

You wanna see what we can find?

I promise, it makes you love the way you used to

Unconditionally

Let's go find those lost memories!

Awww..That was truly beautiful. *sigh* I feel almost the same way. Now I'm the one who is remembering the past. Such beautiful carefree times.

It was a very great poem! Well done again!

Aw! *hug* Thank you, I actually was just felt like writing, and I am afraid my words aren't very fluid, and my childhood meant a lot more to me than tv shows and the ice cream man, but those are some of the things. I will write more poems about this subject, I promise.

Oh and read(if you haven't already) "Hungry", I know it is long, but I would love to hear what you think,it is really close to my heart. Just like you! I love you! :( :p :x

Aww...I'm so speechless. Of course I'll read it too, but when I'll come home from school because now I gotta go. Your poems are truly beautiful and they always seem to bring a smile to my face. I don't why, maybe it's beacause they were made by such an innocent heart and soul. :p :(

I know about that subject too. It's strange but even though my childhood wasn't like 100 years ago I still have very blur memories about it. I don't know why, though.

I love you too, Kirsten and keep on writting those beautiful words. :x
