ok, i posted this same topic on another forum, and someone replied with the transcript of the G. Knight interview, so here it is:
-----------------------
Jackie (BET tv): I have to ask you because you helped bring him and his brothers into the fold. At Motown, Michael Jackson, everything that's been going on with him, your reaction to the verdict, everything that's been going on lately?
Gladys: It's been hard for me to watch.
Jackie: hmm why?
Gladys: Because I knew them, I been knowing Michael since his legs would hang off that sofa. It just would hang off the sofa, he was that little. And I watched him grow into his music, which we absolutely loved. Then I watched him retreat, you know and become an introvert. I watched a lot of things about Michael. Then I watched him find his music again and it became his life. And we sucked him dry. But everything that he was worth, you know that music that touched us, it made us move. We said wow, he is awesome, how do you do that? How do you move the body like that? you know, we sucked him dry. Ok, but not realizing he didn't have a life. Where could Michael go? you know. Where could he go? We used to sit in the office. We had the same manager. He would just sit. Young man never went to a baseball game. We don't take these questions and lay them out on the table when people are in trouble. Now I'm not trying to do the verdict here. Guilty, not guilty I wasn't there.
Jackie: hmm"?
Gladys: But I'm just saying as a people we have a responsibility too, to look pass certain things rather than take ---take, take, take, take. you know? If he has a problem, then lets see about helping. That kinda thing, and not just saying: oh I hope he goes to jail! you know?
Jackie: Yea, your right. I hear ya
Gladys: So thats, that's what I'm saying. As far as young people today. Hey, we haven't given them much.
Jackie: uh huh
Gladys: To go on
Jackie: Well hopefully he'll be watching this and I think it'll warm his spirit.
Gladys: I talked to him a couple times during that. And he's really sick. I don't know why they don't bring that out? you know, Physically. It's not an act. you know?
(Jackie cuts her off)
Jackie: With the back
Gladys: He has a disease
Jackie: Problems and going to the hospital, he's had a lot of problems physically?
Gladys: He's really sick
Jackie: Yea
Gladys: you know, and it's not for me to make that announcement. you know. But for me to do that, you know. That's for his family to do that thing.
Jackie: Yea, well he's lucky to have you.
Gladys: Yea, you know. I just pray for him all the time.
