because they want to be bigger and better then the person who their being cruel too. They also want change, if the person actually did something that made him say something cruel.

being deep underwater and a big mako shark(sharks that show their teeth when mouths closed) slowing swims up to me for an afternoon snack. That and being chased by a giant long legged spider. Actually i'd have the same reaction being chased by a regular sized one too.
