SteamDealz.com – Review

SteamDealz
SteamDealz

I came across this website tonight while surfing G2A. The is called SteamDealz, and the idea is interesting: pay $2.33 and be part of a lottery, which allows you to pay for a random key to game that you can activate on Steam. You have a chance at winning a very expensive AAA Title game, or a cheap crap Indie game.

I went to their site to see if they were legit, which looked nicely and professionally done. The site is littered with AAA Titles such as Far Cry 4,  Dark Souls 2, Batman, etc. in the background, which floods your head with the idea that you could very well win one of these games for only $2.33! The text that states “2$ for EPIC Games” on the center of the page doesn’t turn you away either.

I decided to give it ago, why not? It’s only $2.33 .  So, I went ahead and paid, and 5 suspenseful minutes later I received a random key to activate a game on steam. The suspense was kinda exciting as I entered the key into Steam. Few mini seconds later, wallah! Some Puzzle game!  Pixel Puzzles: Japan 😐 Dud. The game is listed for $6.99 on steam.

I thought, “well I can’t really judge them based on one try”, so I repeated the process, paid again, and this 2nd time it appears I received a slightly better game, Chaos Domain, Valued $9.99 on Steam, but still not one I’d actually buy. Neither of the two games I allowed to be installed.

I put an end to my crazy gambling antics, I didn’t really want to waste any more money today, $6 was enough (they charged .48 for paypal processing) to waste for now.
I know that they can’t possibly spit out actual good games each time, and need to make a profit over all.

steamdealzkeyI didn’t actually order through SteamDealz, but rather through G2a, which gives some protection if the key is a dud. Once the key is generated the site with automatically ask you if the key is good and working. Even if you don’t go through G2a, you can email SteamDealz and from what I’ve seen on forums and such is that they’ll actually help you out, replace your key and such. I’ve witnessed them doing this several times with keys that were valued well below the $2 value that they promised.

The only real thing I didn’t like about this whole process is they don’t seem to tell you which game the key is for before you go to activate it. So what if its a key to a game you already own? I’m not sure if steam will reject activation due to already having the game in your Steam Library. One of the admins stated that “sometimes our suppliers don’t list the game name’s for all keys”, or whatever that means, so they have no idea which games are going to be randomly picked either.

I did some googling, and it doesn’t seem that too many people receive any actual nice keys that they advertise, but it is what it is.

If you have a few bucks to waste, try it out. It is legit, worked both times for me, even though I wasn’t one of the super lucky people who got GTA V! (already bought it anyways 😛 ), maybe you can be!
